WHOOOO wait a minute? What are we looking at here? We talking SF and NSF of canadian pennies right? Aside from trying to distinguish a SF from NSF on a worn coin ( Which is basically almost impossible) Is there another way to tell? I'm all excited all of a sudden!

Am I seeing the I on SF pointing at the denticles and NSF pointing between? We sure this is a way to tell and not just a small dent and larg dent variety? Just curious. Not well versed in this area yet.

look at the "I" in DEI....If it is flared at top and bottom it is NSF. If its pretty much straight its SF

Ahhhh I see so its the actual flare not the location. And this is a sure way to tell if it was a shoulder fold or no shoulder fold? Just want to be sure. :-)

You got it!! The location has nothing to do with being a SF or NSF.

SF-the "I" always points to a denticle.
NSF-the "I" always points between denticles.
The location of the I is an essential marker.

Is that true for all the denominations? The flare in the "I" is the easiest way to tell in my opionion

While the flaring of the "I" is an indicator for all denominations, the photos and discussion here are for one cent coins. For those who are not able to distinguish the difference in flaring the position of the "I" is a sure way to identify SF or NSF for one cent coins.
