So I recently bought two silver State Quarters (VA and WV) off ebay for about $10 including shipping (less than melt I guess).

Only problem is now I actually have the two coins and I see that they are in SGS slabs and graded PF70 (lol).

From what I've heard about SGS, might the two coins not actually be silver after all? I heard the guy does really shady stuff.

And if the SGS slabs aren't really worth anything, should I just break them open to see if the coins are actually silver?

Id break them open the SGS slab isn't worth anything. I havent heard about them saying non silver coins are silver, but they almost certainly arent 70s

How do you go out of business when its more than likely just a guy in his basement with a bunch of slabs

You end up ahead in the long run. Raw coins sell for more than SGS slabs sometimes
Rest in Peace

You shouldn't have to break them open. They're only snap fit holders, not ultrasonically sealed like the top TPG's.

SGS is a basement operation of someones concoction.
Almost everything this person grades, is a 70.
Break them out and throw the rest in the trash.
