Hello, I bought this coin from ebay by US$31.0 a few years ago. I like this coin so much as it is so historical and meaningful. After the unification of Italy, Italian troops finally entered Rome on Sept 20, 1870, the Pope decided to withdraw to the Vatican City and became a "prisoner" as he claimed...The rift of the Church and the State of Italy was repaired by the Lateran Treaty (Feb 11, 1929), there was no issue of coins by Papal States after 1870 to 1929. This coin can be regarded as the first batch of coins issued by the new state - the Vatican City.

The legend of the observe side is Latin but became Italian (Stato della Citta del Vaticano) on the reverse side. Can I say the design had shown an intimate relationship to Italy from Vatican?

There are two questions that I want you to help if you have some knowledge of this coin.

1) I can't see any mint mark from this coin so can you tell me where it was minted?

2) As the edge of my coin was worn considerably that I can't catch the meaning of it, can you tell me what the edge letters said if you have this coin?

Thank you your comments and discussions on this coin.

I believe they were all minted in Rome, but the mint mark was not added until 1981 or so.
Don't have an example of this type so I can't help with the edge lettering.

The edge of this coin has the letters P C I R C. I have no idea what they mean though...

PCIRC stands for PAX CHRISTI IN REGNO CHRISTI - the peace (of Christ) in the kingdom of Christ.
