I am not much of a fan of modern coins, I found the floating head president series to be one of the ugliest series' in US coins (I will give them credit for trying to make at least the reverse better the last 10 years with the Statehood coins and now the America the Beautiful coins which have been fun to collect). But I do like the Sacagawea design and I was roaming around ebay today and ran across the reverse design for the 2012 Sacagawea and was stunned, what a gorgeous design. That design alone has got me wanting to now start doing a Sacagawea set. I think I will start on Monday maybe get a blue whitman album to match my blue Presidential dollar album that I have been doing (easy sets to do with just 4 designs a year and now just adding a 5th).

I agree that the 2012 SAC is very nice. I bought two earlier this year.I have very little interest in the prez dollars or the states quarters but I do like the ATB's. John1

Aye the Platinum Eagle's Liberty looks like the one in Vegas, not the one in Jersey. :-P

The Presidential dollars have been fun just because I like the look of that little gold coin. What makes me mad is the mint is no longer releasing them to the banks meaning I need to now pay a premium to get them. Same will go for the Sacagawea but that is a much nicer looking coin and worth the premium.

I didn't think that the Native American collar had been pulled from circulation but if you look at production figures, it is clear that the NA dollar was quietly pulled from circulation at the beginning of the year. Exactly 2.8 million coins struck at each mint, 5.6 million compared to last year's 77 million and change. The cent may be on its way out but over 4 billion have been struck for circulation this year already. That is more than were struck in 2010 and on a pace to approach 6 billion by year's end. Nearly half of the 266 million quarters struck this year are of the Hawaii design with Denver minting over 78 million, more than it did for the first three designs combined.

I agree on NA dollar being a beauty. I only have the 2012 Mint set that I bought for my son. I have thought about buying a graded version, but there are just too many coins out there to try and do that with. So for now I will just stick with my presidental dollar collections for me and the boy, alot cheaper and like mentioned above, makes you feel good looking at 24 small gold coins smilling up at you when you open the folder :)

Yea I haven't seen a single 2012 Presidential dollar or Sacagawea at my bank and my bank carries coins just for me, they stopped ordering them in July until I threw a stink as I always but $16 worth every Monday (goes in a piggy bank or I recirculate them) and then they started ordering them again. Since they started backed up in August the only coin I have gotten is the James Garfield, I now have enough Garfields to kill a small horse.

I have a small collection of the Sacagawea series, and am currently trying to pull from circulation a circulated series to go with my proof set. I did the same thing with the Susan B's and Eisenhower.
I just haven't found any interest in the presidential series. The circulated coins seem to not stand up to normal commerce handling. If I can't find suitable circulating coins soon I'll end up losing interest completely in this series.

You are not very likely to get a 2012 dollar at your bank even if they do order coins in for you. The 2012's are not being made for circulation. They ended the circulation coins for both the Presidents and the NA dollars at the end of 2011. The only way to get them is to order rolls or 100 coin bags from the Mint, or to buy them from coin dealers. A few will wind up in circulation because some collectors do buy bags search them and dump their rejects into circulation but that is a very small number of coins compared to the total number of dollars out there.
