Haven't bought anything on ebay for a while....took a chance on this one....the sellers pics left much to be desired, although I saw some reflective properties so I took a shot. Also wanted to see if I could capture some of the reflection. Obverse is more-so than the reverse. What grade would you give?

Low-to-middlin' on grade, 62 maybe (lotsa stuff on the cheek)? But this coin, and your photography, captured the extreme effort San Francisco made to strike these coins right. Your images perfectly imply the underlying reflectivity, and illustrate how hard they polished these dies to create a quality product. I love 1878-S issues; they show how the next 4 or 5 years of San Francisco Morgans came to be the finest examples of the breed.

This is a Morgan with a stupendous strike and all the character you could ever hope for. I really wouldn't care what I paid for it, to have it in my collection. And I'd be surprised if it didn't do 62PL. Great coin, great pics.

Great coin, I'd have taken a chance on that one too. Lately, on ebay, I've lost every auction to sniping. Especially the 78's.
Rest in Peace

Very nice Morgan. I would have taken a shot at that one also. As SD already mentioned and I totally agree with with is the quality of Morgans that came out of the San Fran mint from 78 to 82. They obviously took great pride in the coins they produced.
I have at least one PL from each year and consider them to be the the highlight of my collection regardless of their value compared to any others.
