Hello all. I am new to the forum and coin collecting. I purchased a 1935 Texas commemorative half dollar off ebay about 4 months ago and the more I read about fakes on this site's sub forums, the more skeptical I become that my coin is authentic. I can tell you the coin weighs 12.56 grams, but I know very little about this commemorative. I guess I am just a sucker from Texas who was drawn to this coin. I have attached a photo of the front and back (I apologize for the image quality...I need to learn how to use my DSLR camera for these types of shots). I appreciate all your help. Thanks for the education!

First, welcome to the forum. :-)
Second, aye I can see how you can be suspicious. The eagle's head and the oak leaves on the obverse don't look quite right and Liberty's nose and chin don't look quite right (to be frank, she seems prettier on your coin :-) ), but better pictures from different light angles could solidify my opinion.

I have been eyeing the Texas Commemorative for so that I finally picked one myself, slabbed of course (my 7070 collection is ALL slabbed). While I am smitten with the beauty of this coin, I am not seeing anything that jumps out in a negative way. Nice coin!

I see nothing about this coin that would indicate it's a fake to me. The only fake commemorative half I've seen is some Oregon Trail halves on ebay a few months back. They were quite obvious. Nice coin!

There are some fake commemoratives out there but this one looks OK to me.

Just so that I don't seem crazy, here's what I noticed. I'm not sure if the chin and cap could be strike related, but I admit the oak leaves could be. If I had a few more pictures with different lighting, I'd bet it would resolve it for me.

Steve, good eye. Liberty's cap is not the same size or shape, and there is more hair detail in OP's coin. From what year did you snag the PCGS pic? They minted these for 5 years, so perhaps they touched up the hub?

Something seems off with OP's coin. The circle around Austin, under Liberty's eastern wing, is incomplete. OP's coin: Authentic 1935 coin:

If this coin is a fake, it's a darn good-lookin' one!
