Have only just registered - posted already in Welcome lounge - thought I'd try out my image posting knowledge with this interesting item first. Hoping it works. The following pics are of a cartwheel penny, very worn/smooth but with an intriguing individual tale. Someones love and dream from a long time ago. May not be worth anything at all, but it's one of the most treasured coins in my collection. Hope you enjoy it too.

Just try "Love Token" on google or ebay. You might be surprised at the prices, particularly with a host coin like this.
Rest in Peace

Thanks for sharing. I can see why you treasure that coin. It is lovely and makes me feel sentimental.

there was a book on these, published a few years ago: "Convict Love Tokens".
There was also a collection of tokens that toured the museums: I was lucky enough to see the exhibition when it was in Hobart.

If I can read the inscription correctly, it's WW 1809 and AS ...
you might have some joy finding some convicts in WW or AS 1809, but matching the other party might more of a challenge ...

A great coin; thanks for sharing.
