So over the last couple of months I have acquired and purchased some silver both for its metal value and numismatic value. So tonight I decided to calculate my ASW and discovered I have accumulated just over 14.5 ozt!
I was ecstatic when I figured that out. Too bad a bit more than half of it is in numismatic items and therefore I paid well over spot for it but it's nice to know there is some real value in my collection.
I kind of want to start stacking bullion in rounds, bars, and 90% haha!

The 90% coins have everything going for them, bullion value and interesting coins as well. If you want to "Invest" in silver go for the 90% or Stirling coins, These normally sell for a small% over spot and are a lot more fun than poured bars IMHO

I tend to agree with you trout. Lately I've been picking up world coins for type sets for European countries with designs I like and when I can find any silver ones for around spot I jump at them. I think silver is the perfect medium for portraying amazing designs on coins and I think the luster and weight it gives the coins add to their eye appeal.
Thanks fuzzy I had already seen that poll and voted but haven't been back to see what others have been saying. I'll have to check it out again.

I agree with Trout. Except for tokens, all my silver has a numismatic value. I sold all my ingots and bought more coins. Well...all ingots except copper, I still keep that in the corner of the garage. I remember when silver dropped to $3 an ounce when it was up at $50 an ounce. I bought at 3 and sold at 30. I think coins are more stable, even if they're circulated. Hey, ever wonder who owns the most silver in the world? I wonder if it's that Kuwaiti Prince with the RR Silver Shadow made of...what else...sterling silver? Now that would be worth ing over.

Everytime I make a silver purchase I pull my entire hoard out and re evaluate what I have. Its so fun and exciting seeing everything all together. Cant wait to add more!

Ah, the wonders and joy of collecting PMs! Isn't it great that we all have a way to do this that appeals specifically to each of us? Yes, I like coins too but also rounds and bars. A stack of nicely made bars makes me smile. I have 40 of the SilverTowne 5-oz. bars and enjoy looking at them and handling them now and then. This takes nothing away from the silver Maples or ASEs or even the US 90% coins I have. It's ALL good, Brothers and Sisters!

I have a Disney 1 ozt art round that I love but I think the only way I would buy silver bullion is in rounds or bars like that which have more sentimental value to me than silver value 9 times out of 10.

That's the great part of all this, Josh. We can each find the things that we like most and collect them. I do not love any of my collection but I do like everything that I have collected. I don't want to not be able to sell them when necessary or desirable, though, and I could never sell something that I loved.
