Ok I swung into a pawn shop today and picked up this Commemorative dollar on the advice of posters here. I am pretty sure its MS and not a Proof but how can you tell for sure.
Price went up $5 since Friday because of the price of Silver and it was $35.

No and no. And it has a certificate of autthenticity with it that said uncirculated silver dollar. So yes it should be ms and not proof so $35 is a good buy correct. I'll take a pic when I get home.

very good buy even for the extra 5 the thing is many folks dont realize some of the low mintage numbers for many of the modern commems.

The pawn shop has a ton of good commemorative dollars that were probably bought at spot. They had Ellis island, world war ii, Korean, white house, Eisenhower, bill of rights and some Olympic ones Are any of those good buys as well? Most of the dollars are $35, the sets like the bill of rights, world war ii and Olympic gymanist ranged from $40-50.

Theyre basically all good buys at that price in MS especially. Currently they have a melt value of 26-27ish. Get as many as you like and take advantage

I think the bill of rights set which was the half and dollar might have been a proof and it was $50. I am getting an au liberty 1929 Standing Liberty quarter for my type set next Monday. I am just worried some of those might disappear and if they are good buys I might need to grab them first.

Youll probably want to go back before then. The War commems are usually pretty popular. Any of the dollars selling for 35 is cheaper then youll find them online

I don't have any money for more this week not until at least Friday, that's my second commemorative dollar in 3 days. I had planned on putting a commemorative dollar set together but not this quickly. I will likely grab 2 Ellis Island dollars eventually as that is the one they had like 5 of (everything else they just had one of) one to put in my type set to replace the Constitution dollar I put in there on Friday and then one for my commemorative set. I am glad I grabbed that Community service saw one on ebay already at $51 with 2 days to go.

Next week I am getting a AU 1929 Standing Liberty quarter for my type set that is a beauty and was going to pick up a cheap Barber half filler or a silver eagle for my type set now I am thinking I need to swing back in and pick up another of these dollars instead to go along with my SLQ. I am thinking the World War II set because it gives me both the dollar and the half for $40 unless someone can tell me if any of those are a little more rare and worth getting first. Some pics of the community service dollar, it has some toning on the obverse around the shield and around the rim.

thanks for the advice guys on this coin, just saw an MS go for $100 on ebay this was quite the steal for $35. I am almost tempted to sell it haha as it would pay for 3 other commemoratives or a really nice Barber half or a good portion of a really nice t1 Standing Liberty quarter. But I think I will keep it because I can't imagine I will find another one like it for such a steal and who wants a whole in their set as I am now doing a modern commemorative dollar set/

@sirdizzy: You got a great deal, I would hold on to the coin as similar deals will be far and few in between.
It's a "classic" look on a modern coin -- certainly among the more attractive obverse designs within the modern series. Enjoy it!
