Me too. I was an avid player of Civ1, Civ2 and Civ3. But alas, when Civ4 came out, my computer was too old and slow to run it. When I finally upgraded it, I jumped straight to Civ5.

Only played 5 in a demo, bought 2, 3 and 4 on Steam recently for what seemed a tiny amount of money considering the longevity of the game. Been a while but I tweeked a 'Rise of Rome' scenario using the editor in 3 and stretched it out to 1000 turns, it was a lot of fun. Always thought when playing on 'Earth' you got an idea of why important cities were founded and why certain civilizations flourished when they did. Even why some real life wars were lost. Made you realise how important the Med was to the early cities around it, how protected by geography Rome was in its early days, how strategic Alexandria was and how never to enter into a land war in Asia

I haven't played Civilization but it looks interesting. But I have played Rome: Total War and its expansion Barbarian Invasion. Has anyone else here played it?

Rome TW came out in 04 I think so if you have a decent enough system it should run all right. BTW for those that haven't played it yet, download Rome total Realism for it, great mod. And the Invasio Barbarorum mod is a ton of fun if you have the BI expansion.

Are you buying from steam or from a store? Because I bought a bundle that included RTW, BI, Medieval 2, and M2 Kingdoms for $20 at Walmart. This was over a year ago so not sure if they still make this bundle.

It's 2am here in Ireland, and I'm up up way part my bedtime teaching those pesky Egyptians a lesson they won't soon forget in Rome: Total War. I imagine there'll be a few worried denizens of the Nile Valley hoarding their coins away tonight as my Battle-hardened Julii troops approach their cities!!
