Just started getting back into the hobby (as an adult now) and found this image after taking some pictures of my CRH finds.

1953-CDN-Penny---My-First-Double?

Is this one of the doubled 1953's? And is the doubling along the bottom of the leaves common? Or are my rookie eyes misleading me?

Here, as a control, is an image of another 1953 taken under identical lighting (although better focus):

Thanks for your help!

Nice coin. I can see doubling on the 95 in the date as well all along the bottom of the leaves. Great find. I don't know how common it is but it is definitely a keeper.

The doubling is progressive, where it can be almost to the same offset as the 1962 doubled dates. I will try to post a photo sometime later this week.

As promised, here is my doubled 953. Sorry for the photography, it is hard to shoot the date doubling through ICCS plastic.

No apologies needed, SPP, the photo is beautifully clear! Now while the doubling is very noticable on all 3 numbers in your photo, the doubling on the 9 and the 3 is thinner -- how noticable is it in real life under a regular magnifying glass? What magnification do you use to spot these errors? The reason I ask is because I'm not sure I would've seen it myself with my 5x glass. I know there are 10 and 25x glasses as well, but are they the right magnification to see everything I should?

I use a 10x loupe (triplet lens) for almost everything... part of what you are seeing here, is the lighting - look at the top of the three, it has a lot of offset, the nine, less so. It is progressive Die Deterioration, so you can find the doubled 3 and doubled 53 as well as the doubled 953.

Also, Machine Doubling damage (MDD) can occur, which I think the first coin in this thread exhibits.

Thanks for the info, SPP. I'll buy a 10x as soon as I can find one. I love progressive Die Deterioration errors of all kinds, and I've got to agree that that stronger glass will help me spot the details with more accuracy.
