Never been over to the $ side that folds (not that you WANT it folded...)

Anyways.... my Mom found this 1928A $50 Note Redeemable in Gold with number 5 in the seal - Richmond Virgina.

I'm not into notes, and wanted to ballpark a value for an ebay auction.

The pic is not good - from my mom's iphone, so please include the average per low end and middle end grade.

Thanks in Advance!

...... also forgot to mention - She works at a bank and has to "buy" it. Need to tell her to snag it by the end of the day if worth anything above face.

The writing on it is going to be a problem. http://www.uscurrencyauctions.com/$50notes.htm

http://www.oldcurrencyvalues.com/19...ar_bill.html is another website I just found - it gives the guidlines for each district number's value.

FYI ... looks like a 1928 .. not a 1928A.
And the Serial number is one of a 1928.

1928 has more value than a 1928 A, I do agree the writing
will be a problem.

My price guide list a VF at $200, not sure what it would grade
but my guide only shows VF, CH CU and Gem CU for this note.

Thanks GR58! I actually realized that while googling over and over... I'm familiar with the terms for coins, but notes are an unraveling mystery to me.
... hoping to get $100 at least based on what I've seen - AND... from the time it was photographed at the bank until it got to me, the writing was "erased." I guess it was in pencil and I explained that "erasing" it probably wasn't the best thing to do, but DID minimize (almost eliminate) the writing.
