I was looking around and did not see any threads on this, so I was wondering if anyone else had this problem.

Does it seem to you that buyers do not want to leave feedbacks?

I sell good coins and currency that are well described and good photos, I mail them out as soon as I can, hand write a nice thank note to the buyer and email the buyer through out the whole process.
But I only receive about 1/2 the feedbacks.... (I have a 100% Pos. with over 1000 feedbacks)

Any ideas short of hand delivery?

If I see that I have not heard from a buyer after a while, I email them to make sure that the item was OK and all was well through out the transaction. Sometime, this will jog the buyers memory and I will get one or two more feedbacks.

While I don't have 1K in buyer/seller feedback, whenever someones pays, I send a positive feedback right away. When I receive an item, upon acceptance I send a timely feedback. I just wish others would do the same. Every once in a while I send the buyer/seller a message stating that I left a positive feedback for them, but not asking for it in return.

It's the buyer/sellers responsibility (wether it is you or them) to act accordingly IMO.

I know I normally leave feedback within 2 days of receipt of an item. Occasionally if I am buying a bunch of little stuff feedback can get lost in the shuffle but I always get to it. Some others may not.

From bottom of Auction page.

Now, having not read any other CCF guidance on feedback, I see nowhere in the rules that buyers or sellers must leave feedback. Personally, you're crazy not to participate.

Since the CCF has posted a disclaimer concerning the conduct of all auctions and will not arbitrate problems between parties, feedback can only be used to validate the quality of the individuals involved in the sale. If a buyer refuses to leave feedback, it may be a form of silent dissatisfaction. They may not wish to call attention to their lack of forethought. The other side of that "coin" is, they may not posses the moral character or positive attitude to participate in or understand the process. By the way, the aforementioned "coin" can be in the seller's pocket too.

I, personally, only forward feedback after I see the coin. Right now, I'm on holiday and I won't see the coins I purchased til I return in October. However, I have been very proactive with my seller (don't wish for him to think I'm a schlep) and asked him to hold shipment until October, though payment has been forwarded. When I see the coins, I will leave feedback. I believe that as long as you communicate with each other, CCF feedback can wait. There in lies the crux of the matter. If someone doesn't give you feedback, and this is an open forum, why not ask why? If they don't allow PM's or still refuse to respond...well...refer to the last part of the previous paragraph go about your business.

Honestly about 50% response rate seems to be pretty standard with ebay.

I had the same problem and it really bugged me. I had sellers as well as buyers not leave feedback. But here's what I do now:

I check their feedback history to see the last time they received feedback. If they have a bunch of recent feedback then I check their feedback left for others. If there is no recent feedback left for others then I assume they won't leave me feedback. so I just don't bother leaving them feedback. When I buy or sell I always check their feedback left, and if they don't do it then I wont for them. If it looks like they actively leave feeback then I give them feedback right away. Or if anyone gives me feedback I always return the favor.

Why should I leave feedback if they won't for me? This is just the way I handle it now and it works great.

This also bothers me. Last month I received less than 50% of the buyers feedback.

Do what I do then. It used to upset me when I would leave feedback and not get it in return.

You don't feel as bad if you never left them feedback either :)

Like anyone else who sells on ebay, I appreciate when I receive positive feedback. But I no longer worry about it when it doesn't happen. I'm totally above-board on my selling practices and I leave feedback for the buyer as soon as I have his payment. I have a totally unblemished record with over 3300 feedbacks and DSRs that are second to none, but I also realize that folks are NOT obligated to say "thanks" (or whatever) so I just chalk it up to poor people skills and move along.

Truthfully...? If not for the fact that I'm ALWAYS leaving feedback for my buyers I'd probably occasionally forget to leave feedback on a transaction where I was the buyer.

I rarely use the Bay (although I made four purchases last night . . . eep, someone get me away from the coins!), so to me every feedback is precious. Unfortunately, most of my purchases end up garnering what I call "form letter feedback," you know the kind--you buy five DVDs from a seller over the course of three months, and ALL FIVE FEEDBACK say "great buyer! Shop http://www.thisisourstoreurl.com!" I don't mind it *so* much because at least I got the feedback, but at the same time . . . c'mon! At least let me believe I'm dealing with a real person.

. . . oh, so, um, if any of y'all ever sell a lowball item and it gets picked up by somebody with super-low feedback numbers who's been on the Bay for years, it might be me. I first made my account to pick up a college textbook and then didn't need it again for something like eighteen months. Please don't let me scare you.

Ive never had a problem with new buyers or buyers like nina who dont buy that much. Although they do seem to leave less feedback everyone has to start somewhere. Its the buyers with an recent unpaid item that scare me. Last time I checked they have to have more than 2 unpaid recent items before you can filter block them which I wish you could just block anyone with an unpaid item in the last month or so especially if it was their last purch ASE

. . . basebal, your typo amuses me intensely because it's close to my bedtime (I work 3rd shift tonight--means this is about the time I'll be getting home tomorrow morning), and I first read that as meaning "if their last buy was an ASE." Then I saw the fortuitous space, and laughed.

I actually am only aware of missing feedback one time (when I was giving it, I mean)--I ordered an item from Japan, and the seller mislabeled it as coming to "East Ave" instead of "EastERN Ave". Both of those addresses exist in my hometown, although one is numbered with three digits and one with four. By the time we got shipping sorted out, my sixty days to leave feedback had passed. I apologised profusely to the seller in my best (very bad) Japanese, and the next time I ordered from her I used one feedback to leave two comments. I believe in giving feedback.

Lol I dunno why it decided to do that but that is humorous so I am going to leave it.

I actually kind of understand new users not leaving feedback, what I dont get is how people with 1000s of feedbacks and clearly use ebay all the time cant take 30 seconds to leave feedback

I believe in giving feedback now too whether good or bad just be consistent. What I mean by that is dont leave negative comments yet give positive stars or vice versa.
