I deal mainly in US mint errors and Varieties but stumbled across this the other day at the coin shop.

Is this possibly the 1972 Ghost Dollar?

In my (very) limited experience, the doubling is most obvious along the bottoms of the arms extended forward to hold the ends of the paddles. I'm not seeing that in the picture.

I don't think its one, but it is a cool coin though, I have a 72 silver dollar as a pocket piece.

I don't see any trace of doubling on the coin in question.

It might be easier to see if you can get a picture closer up to their arms.

I guess $100 is all we have to go by. Unless anyone knows if they are lesser or greater in value in today's market.

That looks like it. I have a couple for other years but not this one. Didn't know they had a nickname until this thread though.

This particular type occurs in the specimen silver struck coins, right? I have never seen a 1972 nickel dollar like that (although you can find a doubled date).

After reading this thread, the hunt was on! I found a beauty, incredible toning on both sides (obverse, not shown, is a pink tone). The "ghost effect" can be seen in this coin. This was a 1972 specimen cased single. The eye appeal, and grade, is incredible (SP-67+), I might put this in a PCGS holder just to protect and view this coin.
