This nickel is a Barber coin.
Of that there is doubt.
So on the 3rd we post away
And raise a great shout out!

Sure, everybody has a few
Worn slick and smooth as ice.
A few may post a gem BU,
And that is just as nice.

But grades in between gem and junk
Are hard as heck to find.
An '85 in very fine
Blows everybody's mind!

The '86, the 'Frisco '12.
That '88 for me!
You see, Aunt Tootsie filled the hole
With one marked '83!

I guess October's gonna be
A busy month for me.
For every day I'll have to post
Each one of thirty-three!

Don't cry for me, ye friends of "V",
One thing that all should see:
That I have all the thirty-three.
With "I" in "LIBERTY!"

So let's us thank our good friend Moe
For hosting such a show.
Just one thing 'bout the lovely man:
His code games cause me woe!

This is going to be an easy thread. I have three V nickels, and I already have their pictures online.

Matthew, that was awesome! One of these days I will get a camera that can take pictures of my coins. And then I will actually have a few to contribute to this thread as well as some of the others.

I use a scanner, slowaltima, since I do not have a camera good enough.
Looks like Moe got a good laugh out of the poem!

I can just imagine the ebay sales pitch, cipster:

"Recent find from Eastern Europe -- Vi Nickola"

Sure, she's a bit long in the tooth, but just think about it - 120 years old or there abouts.
"V", as her friends call her, shares her life story through an interpreter:

"I was a bit of a renegade as a young girl. No sir, I did not stay home - I got out and circulated!
Let the boys rough handle me a bit, heh, heh! Then came The Depression. Didn't get out much then.
But when Nazis invaded I was pressed into service - keeping what ever little commerce we had going.
By the 50s things were just as bad. Traded one invader for another.

But I don't like to think about that too much. Today I just tend my little garden. Go to church regularly.
I still bake my own bread!

Now, where is that bottle of brandy you promised me?"

Now you can own a genuine "V"!
Don't let this golden opportunity pass.
Bidding starts at only $0.99!

A point of clarification please:

Does Oct 3rd begin at 00:00 my time? [Eastern DST]
Is there a CCF server time that we should observe?
Or does "close enough" work as well?

It is your "Days Of" Moe, and I will abide by your wishes.
Matthew
Rest in Peace

And I have no gold coins as old as your avatar, johnny54321!
Two or twenty, these "Days Of" topics provide us all with an opportunity to share our coins and yes, to brag a bit.
I am lobbying with the folks at my Barber group to enter into an informal relationship with the CCF.
And if things work out well, our efforts will encourage other traditional groups to enter into the big bad world of the Internet. There is no better group than the CCF to help make this effort a success.
After an informal poll of dealers, all have the same opinion: coin collecting faces a crisis:
Unless we create bridges of cooperation between the print and the 'Net, and
unless we reach out to the new collectors who reply upon the internet for their source of information,
well, we may not survive as a hobby.
And yes, I CAN write some poor poetry. All in fun!
