This may not be that hard to do but someone has gone to the trouble of doing every point of the dodecahedron on both sides of this 1974 50 cent coin. I'm quite impressed at the effort for no gain

I have one the same but it is a 1976. The 7 has nearly been completely scratched off. I think someone was trying to pass it of as a silver 66.

I fully agree with the thread title, and while enworbs find could have the potential to fool those unfamiliar, silver has a very distinctive toning that I haven't seen replicated in any CuNi coin.

Perhaps this is the original design for the modern 50c piece.!

a bunch of those half hidden in a large pile of coins would likely create a bidding frenzy

I have one that was rounded off and the colour is more like silver too. I am sure it has been deliberately made to replicate a 1966.
