Over the past year in buying junk silver coins I have accumulated a small quantity of V nickels. For common date, common condition examples is there any interest in them and what can one realistically hope to sell them for? They really don't interest me much and would rather use them to buy more silver.

Theres usually always interest in older coins. Wont get rich or anything but can certainly get a lot more than face value

It depends on what you call common condition. Most of us would agree that the most common condition is a low grade Good. I have seen them sit in the dollar box for months.

I would say if they are about G-4 you will probably get $1.50 to $2.50 for the common dates. $3 seems high, especially compared to what they usually go for on ebay ($1-$2).

G-4 commons are a buck a piece at best.
If they have some letters in liberty they shoot up to around $5
and up depending on condition

I was buying out of a coin shop junk bin for .50.
The owner saw my interest, searched the remainder
and moved lots of them to another box and priced
them at $1.50.

I generally won't pay over .50 for lots on e-bay or
craigslist. That's just me.
