It's a chip. An interesting one, especially noting the concurrent crack directly across the die at 9:00 - that die failed spectacularly in short order after this strike, no doubt.
As an added-value item....not likely. But of more than passing interest for the student of die progression, considering what one might infer from the opposing cracks.
