There is a "Peduan" for sale on ebay, that I may be interested in buying. However, I know nothing about Peduans other than I like the looks. The seller says he has no idea of the origins other than it came from a collection where nothing is less than 100 years old.

I have two questions.

1. how to tell the value, if any, of these copies?
2. Is there some way to tell the age of such a copy?

Here is a page with more information. It's spelled "Paduan" here.

Original Paduans carry a decent price tag and are collectible in their own right. Aftercasts decrease in quality with casts being made of casts and so on. These later aftercasts are often marketed as Paduans with premium prices but do not justify them.
I cannot comment on values too much as this is an area I have steered well away.

I am not familiar with these but often you can get an ancient coin that is fat for the same price.

Giovanni Cavino was the most prolific maker of this type he worked in the mid 1500's. If this is one of his coins they command a high price. Later Paduans are cast and worth a bit less. In any event Paduans are not cheap.

This was $31 in 1989. Probably double by now - it is a moderate aftercast with as many better as there are worse. I suspect a perfect original would be at least $500 but I've never seen one I'd really call perfect so it might be a lot more. The ones I have seen sold as original still look cast to me making me wonder if that is not correct for originals and none were struck?

The assumption is that the better ones are loder but I see no way of proving whe any coin was made.

In the Carus collection I have this "Paduaner", it's a 19th century cast from the three Monetae. It wasn't sold as A Paduaner but with the suggestion it could be one from the famous Giovanni Cavino. I paid about $ 125,- for it, I have never seen another specimen so it's RARE
