A matter of taste, I guess? ...
=> these two coins are approximately the same price, yet they are certainly not similar in appearance ... => so, which coin do you prefer? COIN #1KINGS OF EGYPT, PTOLEMY IV PHILOPATOR 221-204 BC Obverse: diademed Zeus-Ammon head Reverse: eagle standing left on thunderbolt, cornucopea before, monogram between legs "or" COIN #2KINGS OF EGYPT, PTOLEMY IV PHILOPATOR221-204 BC Obverse: Head of Zeus-Ammon right, wearing tainia Reverse: Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; filleted cornucopia to left, ΣE between legs

Steve nice looking coins, I would like size and weight to pick one or other...if they are the same size I would pick #2 coin....

I personally prefer coin number 1, due to it showing more detail on the Eagle.

NOTE => they're both the same size and weight ... Amazingly, these two bad boys are both approximately 40mm and just over 70 grams!!=> yup, these babies are kinda like Brontosaurus Coins!

Unfortunately for COIN #2, I don't have the skilz to make the photos the same size ... Yah, the details on the two eagles might look a bit more comparable, if the photos were the same size (so try to take that into account) ...

70 grams? That's 2.5 ounces. Wow. Heavy coins. Can you imaginew walking round with a pocket full of these bad boys? I think they are both nice coins, but I suppose I would take coin #1 if everything is equal.

#1 is the nicer looking one, but I wouldn't mind having either one.

Tough call. I think number 2 looks like it has more detail intact, but the first one looks much cooler.

Hey, thanks for the opinions ... oh, and please keep them coming and/or add more comments as other people start to bring-up new points (like this one of mine) ... Coin #1 is from an ancient dealer that I have never dealt with, "yet" ... but looking through his stuff, I see no obvious reason to doubt the quality/authenticity of his merchandise ... Coin #2 is from a dealer that I have dealt with quite a bit and I have always been treated very well ... however, the second coin has a couple of chips/dings on the outside rim of the reverse (any comment on whether these look like they may lead to problems down the road?) ... Thanks, fellas

Dealer #1 is one I have dealt with in the past with no problems.

Sadly, this is really one time when having both coins "in hand" would definitely be invaluable!! ... but I don't have that option ... *sigh*
I too think that Coin #1 has more immediate eye-appeal ..... but hey, in-hand, both coins could look mighty differently than they do in these photos ...
If I decide to buy either of these beauties, then asking for a few more photos would probably be a very good idea in this case, eh?
=> but please continue to give me your comments using the only photos that I've got at this time (thanks again) ...

Definitely coin 1. The dirt/patina really highlights the features.

1. I find it strange that the dotted circumference on the obverse ends at the 5 o'clock position and begins again at the 8:30 position on both coins.
2. Coin #2 the details appear softer to my old eyes than coin #1, but the flan appears somewhat larger, at least on the reverse image.
3. The coloring of both coins are different from each other, with coin #2 seeming multi-colored while coin #1 appears more even.
4. On the obverse of coin #1, in front of the face of the portrait, there appears to be an area where it has been rubbed or cleaned smooth. Even the dotted circumference is missing at this point.
