The ASE is in fact a bullion coin, but they are graded and treated like circulating coinage in that respect,, your coin is a Mint State coin not a proof, Proof is a type of minting process that results in highly polished fields and frosted devices,( and now also the reverse proof issues with higly polished devices and frosted fields)
ASE grade -- these coins leave the mint IMO at a normal grade of about MS-67 ,, there will be exceptional examples that may grade 69, and many have been slabbed at MS-70 the opinion on this grade will vary and is for another conversation,, anyway these coins at a standard of about MS-67 can only go down based on care ,handling, and environment,,
your coin looks like it is pretty much as it left the mint except for the toning, I think the grade would be in the MS-66 range.
the canadian coin , according to my guide is not a proof strike coin either ,, but it has some distracting marks and would make the coin grade at MS-65.
of course these are my opinions and maybe challenged by other members ,, so I wait along with you for other replies.
