Agreed. Anything less would probably be an insult, but I don't really dwell at such levels...I'm a bottom feeder of the numismatic world. ;)

Holy mackeral, that set is amazing. I would easily say 6 figures on it. Incredibly condition for the age, and the story of that set is equally amazing.

Overall it's a beautiful set but if sold individually I wouldn't even consider buying the quarter or the dime. The quarter has three marks on the jaw line and one on the neck that are distracting, the dime has a good size hit on the E of DIME which stands out at you and a horizontal mark on the eagle's left wing (right side facing the coin) at about 3: 0'clock and I wasn't even looking for any problems, these marks were just that noticeable. The dollar, half, nickel and cent are coins I would be proud to own. Ed ANA LM-3175

Fantastic set! Although, I'm not sure about the grade on the IHC given the spotting and marks on both sides. I'm not a primary collector of the other series, although they are beautiful. Quite a few contact marks on the coins, but maybe that is from their journey to the Exposition. I wonder how they are encased, in PCGS slabs? Is the original holder around? Interesting this set is from 1892 and not 1893.

I would think that any free advertisement is appreciated, as long as it is identified as to who is selling the product.
Awesome first year set of Barbers!

Most people would have been swooning over the Morgan or IHC, my eyes went directly to the Barber coinage. Hands down the best of the series that I have ever seen pictures of....

Totally amazing set! Thanks for sharing it. He needs to upgrade the cent and nickel, since they are only PRF66.

Wow... an organic thread on my set that I wasn't aware of until an Ancients board member alerted me. I am the Mullen behind Mullencoins.com and the set has been the center piece of my collection and the dollar is the headline image for the Mullencoins.com website. Thank you all for the comments. It is a spectacular set and I owe thanks to Bob Greenstein at Harlan J Berk for selling it to me many years ago. The images are done by "Messydesk" - John Baumgart. Always fun to see how people react to different coins... the opinions on the Dollar are always the same - Wow! The half, quarter and dime are loved by the Barber collectors, the dime is loved by toning collectors, the nickel by nickel collectors and the cent gets the least amount of credit as being somewhat common for the date and not as spectacular as the rest of the set. Guess the mint couldn't find a wonderful cameo cent to add to the set. Again, thanks all for the comments and compliments.

Hey, hey, Windycity, the nickel IS a Barber coin and is also loved by us. "Interesting this set is from 1892 and not 1893." No doubt because the Mint and the public expected the fair to open on schedule. Construction delays postponed the opening until 1893. "Regardless, I think this is one of those rare cases in numismatics where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts." I am reminded of the King of Siam Proof Set which was speculated to fetch upwards of two million dollars. [Years ago] Missing two of the coins, the fact these sets traveled half-way across the world to gain the favor of several heads of state made it VERY special. And back then the folks worried that, once encased, the coins would be sold individually. The set was STILL in the presentation box! I now "own" the set, digitally, and will enjoy studying it in greater detail. The four Barber coins would be a welcome addition to our online gallery. Please say "yes" Windycity. Oh PLEASE!

Okay, I will say it, this is one proof set that I would never "break apart" or otherwise separate.

harrison2, The link in my signature links you to our home page. On the left is a list of all the topics we have available. The last entry is "gallery." At the bottom of the gallery page is the following: "Any BCCS member may submit an image of their favorite Barber coins for inclusion on this page. It can be a rare coin, or simply a coin that has a nice look. Submit images to the BCCS mailbox listed below." My plan would be to write to Windycity directly and ask him how he would like to package the presentation and how he wishes to be credited. My thought for the credit is: "Submitted by Matthew on behalf of [fill in the blank.] I can pull a few strings and get away with it. In our last issue the CCF got high praise. You can read it here: https://goccf.com/t/130448Windycity, I will use the "contact us" on your site to discuss this further.

Matthew, thank you for having patience with the digitally blind.
Looks like a very appropriate location for the Barbers in this set, I say go for it!
