The colourized and gold-plated versions are aftermarket mods done by a private German Mint that makes their living doing (defacing?) this.
Personally I feel that the gold-plated versions looks rather classy but the colourized version just goes way overboard. Colour on coins rarely works even when considerable effort is put into design, let alone as an aftermarket afterthought.
Only one gripe about the gold-plated version, and that is that "CANADA" on the reverse is plated in the earlier coins (wolf and bear) and not on the later coins (not sure about the cat and moose, but definitely not on the antelope). Therefore, they look nice individually but unfinished as a set.

I personally don't like the look of them. I also think its defacing the coin.
What about the gold plated Fiji coins that come in a case with water that you can put over top the coin. Are those "aftermarket" as well?

No, the gold-plated Taku coins are straight from the NZ Mint. Mintage = 5,000 I think. It's a thing of theirs I guess, to spice up their coins. There snow hare one had a case with what looks like a paw print in snow. The alice in wonderland silver coin had a clock as the cap, the dragon series comes in a plastic egg, and then there's the darth vadar cases for the star wars coins that the RCM is advertising for them

IMO, those mints spent way too much time on packaging, and not enough time on the actual coin design and engraving.
The Fiji Taku is pretty much the best silver coin I have seen from NZ mint. It is wise of them to use it as the design of their bullions. Their silver fern is okay too.
But most of their other coins are just silk screen colour printing done on precious metal, pretty similar to those printed on my cookie can (well.. except my cookie can is not made of silver).

The NZ Mint Kiwi series, that distributed by NZ Post - very nice. No paint, mintage not high. BU coin on card is good, but proof...like it much.
The proof coin you will not find under $120. Can compare them with Kangaroo by RAM, but more "exotic".

@Silveroid: I agree with you, the Kiwi series sold by NZ Post is nice, and in fact I am trying to get one of these bad boys. But they were *not* mint by NZ Mint. They were minted by a German Mint (BH Mayer's Kunstprageanstalt GmbH).

@Shopaholic:
Thanks for correction. Having one of them (BU version) didn't check properly and mistakenly assumed that it minted by NZ Mint.

No problem.
And I think I should apologize for diverting the discussion from the 2013 Antelope to my discontent with NZ mint.

 and as was mentioned by poboxw, the gilded version could be collectible (together with the same versions of other 4 coins), but not the painted one. All the beauty of shiny silver was covered by print.
