Could not locate this in the krause catalog, assistance appreciated and thanks!

checked year 1918 at wikipedia which says:

the year Spanish flu kiled 30million people

the year when Belarus, Armenia,, Azerbaijan, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Iceland & Estonia all declared their respective independence. Got to complete those coins

the year the last Parakeet parrot native to the eastern USA in captivity died at cincinnati zoo, specie extinct

the year WWI was ongoing and the year "the Red Baron" with his red plane, and WWI's most succesful fighter ace pilot dies in combat

the year Boston Red Sox wins the 1918 world series over the Chicago cubs. The next time the Boston Red Sox won again is 2004, an 86 year gap

The year of the shooting of the Romanov family

that was a memorable year 1918

The Krause catalog won't list that piece as it is a local issue. As you wrote, Kriegsgeld (war money) or Notgeld (emergency money). It was issued by the city of Coblenz, Prussia (today Koblenz, Rhineland-Palatinate) during World War I. And as the text says, the piece was to be valid until one year after the end of the war ...

Thanks christian !

Thank you for the translation, that really cleared it for me!

are there many types of "war money"?
are these types difficult to find? or common?

the german "notgeld" or "kriegsgeld" is a very interesting and widespread area.
nearly every city town or also village issued its own money with local validity.
the reason was because of the lack of coins and the lack of trust in the german currency in the hard times between
1918 and 1923. the material of this coins were all kind of metal (yours is struck of iron) and also paper, wood or porcelain (city of meissen in saxony)

there are a lot of cataloges about this money.

a great piece: and a tangible link to world history ... just why I collect coins.
and thankyou for the explanation about the limited validity.
