Added a few new coins this week to my collection.

IMP CM A MAXIMIANVS AVG
CONCORDIA MILITVM
A in center field
XXI dot
RIC II, CYZICUS 607

This is the only reference I found for this coin, however the center field mark looks like a cresent over A. I am not sure if this is an unlisted coin or the mark is just an A.

According to Helvetic's, there is RIC VI 62b which has the crescent over A struck at Antioch. However, I can't find this same center mark with the mintmark of your coin. Perhaps it is unlisted.

I also saw that for the Antioch mint. So do you agree that it is a cresent and not just the letter A?

I am curious what is the obverse picture supposed to depict. I know it has two figures. Are they gods, generals, Caesars? Is that Nike in the middle? what years was it struck whats its size. Curious..curious..curious. There is a lot more on this coin then just the legend. Nice coin, as always echizento.

Personally I think its just 'A'. But if it is it doesn't match any of the other 'A's on the coin!

I don't think these coins are particularly well covered in RIC and this shows through to Helveticas tables. I've had trouble in the past with these as have other people, remember this thread?

By the end of it I think I was more confused than when we started!

I also think it is just a A with strong serif's on the top.

Here is my equivalent for Diocletian. The a seems similar.

Unless something turns up I'm going with it just being an A. Thanks for all your input.
