Just picked these up over lunch from my local coin dealer. These are my first pre-1900 notes, so I'm chuffed. For the same price I paid for the pair I could have picked up a $1 Education Note in the same condition from him, but I decided I wanted to wait until I could to get one in nice condition.

Nice pieces!

May I know how much you paid for each?

Cheers

Too much, probably....

I paid $300 for the pair.

[Edit: That was actually $200 for the 1886 and $100 for the 1899. The seller originally wanted $250 and $120 but agreed to take $300 for the pair.]

Really? Cool.

This particular dealer has ridiculously high prices for his coins, but I've found his prices on currency to be pretty reasonable.

Very nice buys! Good luck with the educational note. I'd love to get one myself, but they are quite expensive in the really nice grades.
