Hello, I've enjoyed reading the forum posts lately and now have a general question about a recent fleamarket find. I've been reading about Dansco album pros and cons and have been thinking about switching out all my silver currently stored in albums to coin tubes to replace the albums and for space conservation. what are the forum's thoughts on this? regards, Mark Here's my find...

to the Community! I moved your welcome post to the 'Supplies, Books, Reference, Software, etc' forum for the proper attention. What you have there is an older Dansco 'Album' but it is more accurately described as a folder. The current Dansco albums (like all albums) allow you to see both sides of the coin, which are protected by plastic slides. That being said, that is a very nice find, because that Dansco is a classic. As for moving from albums/folders to tubes, I am against it. While tubes may be more efficient for storage, you lose the convenience of easily viewing the coins.

I think that it would be a waste of such beautiful coins to put them up where you can't easily see them. I suggest purchasing a newer album with more varieties and types, but that is just my opinion.

For those coins I would suggest a new Dansco album. This allows you to view both sides of the coins. You may end up damaging or scratching the coins in the process of putting them in tubes.

Read the current post about Best coin Folders. As already noted you are using a Folder. Coins are not safe in those. Moving them to an Album or plastic tube would be the smart thing.

I agree with All of the above members...An Album is the way to go; whether it be Dansco, Littleton, Intercept or whatever other brand that has acid free slips and paper to protect your collection. I've stored coins in tubes and believe me that's not the way to enjoy your collection.

I would say it all depends on what kind of coins you have. If your silver is just bullion youve been stacking tubes are great. If there a numismatic collection I like being able to look at them which makes tubes terrible and the album the way to go.
