Am going to start selling some wheat rolls on ebay and I was wondering how do you go about getting a different user name for selling on ebay other than your regular login name. My user name is edgman here, ebay and all over but for sales I don't want to use that name. Been up on ebay but could find no answer. I know it can be done but I don't want to lose my good feedback either. Unless I have to. All help will be appreciated.

Thanks

I don't have an answer, but I am curious. I would hope your personality doesn't change between buying and selling. Do you think you will get neutral/bad feedback as a seller, thus hurting your feedback when buying? Having one profile for buying and one for selling is how some items get fake bids, where the seller tries to bump the hammer price higher.

You could get 2 ID's, but other than that the only way to have a different username is to change the one under your current accout.
If you were to have an ebay store, you could create a different name for your store, but your username (in this case edgman) would still be visible from your store page and this is the name that would show up if you were to search for yourself in the member search area.

Its just that a lot of people know me as edgman. I've used it for many years and a lot of people all over have my personal email, etc. Even people from this forum could contact me without going. I used to sell on ebay about 7 years ago under this name but stopped when them made me take PayPal. Anyway there is an area on this forum that gives forum members names and their ebay names. If I have to use edgman I will but would prefer not to. I just don't feel safe using edgman to sell stuff especially coins. Too easy for someone to get your address or phone number. My user name "edgman" means Electronic Data Gathering man. I used to gather information for people. Phone numbers, driving records, salary, etc. If I can do it others can. Just would rather use another name for selling. We will see what happens. Could use more input on this.

Thanks

edgman

The only way to keep Feedback is to use the same account, whether under the current name or a new one. Having differing buying/selling accounts is a common practice on ebay; I've had two accounts for something like 6 years.

OK! ebay let me change my user name and still keep the same account and feedback, etc. According to them your allowed to change it every 30 days. ANOTHER QUESTION! Do I need to change my PayPal user name to the same as ebay?

Special thanks to SsuperDdave for his reply letting me know about this. And thanks to all of you who responded.

Guess what? I just got 250 posts so now I can sell here on the Forum!

Congrats on 250!

Your Paypal username is just your e-mail if I'm not mistaken, so you shouldnt need to change that.

The email is the sign in.

I dont think changing that is necessary though. Anyone you buy from will get your full info anyway to ship and buyers will get your name seller ID and email. Maybe make a new email to use for that alone, but your info will get shared on there to a degree no matter what you do if youre using it
