Just wondering if anyone from Ottawa (CC-Ottawa?) have returned coins to RCM by droppping them off? If yes, can you tell me the procedure? I was told by some reps over the phone that's possible and some not. That I need to speak to a supervisor (waiting for call back). I don't mind shipping for 1 coin but in this case the value is high and if you add insurance it could go as high as $30.

Every time I visit the mint, I ask them this question. Every time, the answer is no. We joke about how dumb it is that I need to ship something across town when I can just drop it off.

Usually they'll reimburse shipping if you put the shipping receipt in the box. Just get the people at canadapost to print 2 receipts, 1 for you 1 for the mint.

The RCM should refund shipping costs if you include a receipt. Alternatively, I wonder if you could drop it off directly to the P.O. Box? Royal Canadian Mint, PO Box 457, Stn A, Ottawa, ON K1N 8V5 Canada

Got a call from a supervisor but that was a rushed call, he basically just said not possible. I thought they reimburse the shipping only if the coins are damaged? I called Canada Post (STN A) and they said even if you walked in STN A, you would still have to pay for shipping. I guess the only way not to pay for shipping is to be at the Post office when RCM is picking up their stuffs.

Save yourself the headache of shipping and sell online through Craigslist or Kijiji. Charge issue price.

Sorry Zennon but I've never returned a coin. I suspect that they have a receiving department like any other business but I also suspect that the have relatively tight security on deliveries. That's probably why you can't just walk up and drop off a package. The following is from the mint.ca FAQs - bolding added. "Returns: Shipping & Reimbursement Guidelines Please be advised that the Royal Canadian Mint is not responsible for returned purchases that are lost in the mail. Note: To ensure your return package does not get lost, consider choosing a carrier who provides the option of a tracking number, insurance or "signature required" shipping. If you are returning a defective product and wish to be reimbursed at the regular mail rate, up to a maximum of $15 CDN, please include your Request Merchandise Authorization number and copy of the shipping receipt. Note: This reimbursement does not apply to non-defective product or additional incidentals like insurance. " Basically, if you return a non defective coin, it's going to cost you.

@cc-Ottawa: The return address is actually a Canada Post office box. Presumably you could walk right in there, but it seems you cannot drop off anything into someone else's PO box without paying postage.
I have returned products (not defective) ExpressPost (with tracking but no signature required - though I fail to see how you can track the final delivery without a signature?)
I was reimbursed fully.

Probably won't help becase the cost is usually much higher than the face value on most coins......but you can spend them at the mint store. Really only worth while if you want to return your $20 for $20 coins.

Just quoting their website - if they choose to reimburse for all returns, that's great.
For sure you couldn't go to Stn A and give it to them without postage. I assumed the Zennon was asking if he could take it to 320 Sussex Drive.
But it does seem silly that you can't deliver it yourself to the Mint. You could do that with just about any other business but as I said, I guess it has to do with security at the mint. Don't want people dropping off random packages that have no paper trail.

Yeah maybe logistics for the tracking the return. In my case, CP tracked the return to the PO box, but RCM didn't actually pick it up until a few weeks later.

If we don't accept the package and it gets return back to sender, would RCM refund back our money or would they re-ship it to us again?
