These and the '92s have some plating/ghost doubling issues. I'm guessing that's what you see

Question: At what phase of production is the plating done on the zincolns ? Stock,Blank,Planchet ? Thanks.

before the blanks are punched the sheet of metal is plated, I belive

I believe the blanks are plated because they are purchased already plated from vendors...but I'm not absolutely positive.

The zinc blanks are punched from the metal stock then the blanks go through the upsetting mill to become a planchet. At that point, the planchets are immersed in an electrochemical plating bath and then shipped to the Mint from Jarden Zinc.
