Those two spaces should be for varieties, so you put one cent with Lincolns profile and another showing the wheat reverse.

I have the Classic album, and yeah those 2 spaces are empty! Have no idea, maybe they thought with the design change there would have been a 1959 wheat and Memorial cent? Just guessing here...lol

With all of the different dated varieties of Whitman Lincoln albums, that was probably the last page of an album that ended with 1958D, and Whitman added the other dated pages from 1959-1995 and sold it as a 1909-1995 album without having to re-make that last page. They just kept those two spots there and added the new pages. The two slots in your album after 1958D don't have any text below them?

There you go. You put one penny there showing the obverse (Lincolns profile) and another of the reverse (showing the Wheat back).

The two spaces labeled Varieties are if you wanted to add a 1955 double die or any other pre 1958 error variety. You could also put in one with the reverse showing up as an example of the reverse. There were no specific issues intended for those two openings you could put anything in them if you wanted to or you could leave them empty. Ed ANA LM-3175

Not really difficult at all....as long as you have $800 ++ ....

The Whitman album he's talking about has spots for the 55DD, 22 plain and 72DD. Whitman albums have previously used "variety slots" as to mean "put whatever additional coins you want in here." They never meant "chose your own variety cent that we didn't include a slot for." These are also the last two holes on a page where the wheatback ends. They didn't want to start memorial until the next page.

I am assuming they did it for the same reason Dansco did it (but with three holes). It is so the Memorial Cents can start at the top of a fresh page.
