The one on the right looks normal.
The 01 on the left might just be a plating issue
with the plating process.

The 2001 could be a brass plate http://koinpro.tripod.com/Brass.htm Brass plated cents can be found in many dates ans MM.

Too much zinc and we have brass...interesting variety..don't think it's worth anything, but I keep mine and only have a couple after all these years; so who knows...

After putting back about 20 of these in 3 months, I've come to the conclusion that they aren't all that rare simply because of the reason jmkendall states above.
