Couldn't help buying this one since I've wanted a better example of Claudius in my collection for some time (my only two coins of him have seen better days...). Plus its not often I buy 1st century coins. I think it's RIC 100?

Claudius AE As

Obv: TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG P M TR IMP, bare head facing left

Rev: S-C across field, Minerva standing right, brandishing spear in right hand and holding shield on left arm

I have one similar. I cannot read the end of the obverse legend on your coin, but the obverse legend on mine is: TI CLAVDIVS CAESAR AVG PM TR P IMP P P, bare head left. The reverse looks the same. I have my attributed as RIC 116

Yeah, that's why I just went by how many letters I was able to see after the M in PM. Without having it in hand, I could be wrong of course.

Good portraits of Claudius (stylewise) are very hard to find. They are often caricatural imo. I finally managed to get a decent one lately, in a decent grade

Stevex6--the portrait on your coin reminds me a lot of marble busts of Claudius.
