I would guess that's the designers initial. Hey, at least you have some silver :-)

True - And that is the best part, but curiosity is getting the better of me with this one.

When you got the coin did it come with a free cigar?

On a serious note, is that .999 or .925? Are you positive it's not plated? Just curious.

A cigar named...er mon.... never mind..

As for the Silver, no sure but would guess 0.999, it weighs right at 31.4 g so I am pretty sure its one ounce.

Well its has been months and I have yet to find anything more. I looked for an R initial, an R inside of a D for a mint location/ID, and have searched through William J. Clinton Silver medals till I am blue..

Hopefully someone spots it and recognizes something about it..

Maybe it is rare? Maybe not....

Maybe the R just stands for "Registered", could be it is in the database of Registered stuff which can be browsed at online somewhere (ask google or bing) similar to the TM and patents.
If it is then there will be more information as to who registered it, maybe the material and so on, otherwise you might take it to a good jewelery shop or precious metal or scrap dealer who own a XRF scanner and it will tell you exactly with a scan what % of which metals it was made of.

Edit: registered trade mark search engine: http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/gate.exe...ish&p_d=trmk
may take a while to you find it if indeed it was Registered

Thank you. I tried to see if I could find something but it was a needle in a haystack type event. I am going to take it to a coin show and maybe someone will know something. Again, thanks for the link (a good one to have anyway).
