Since #14 was too easy I had to make #15! The Prize is still Bragging Rights  . There are 3 quotes and then the name of the person who spoke the quote. The Code: 3092314 152421 11232316 241616 2311 251926 8262381626 20231326 2311 251926 2522132629 242117 20231326 2311 251926 8262381626 241616 2311 251926 2522132629 71425 92314 152421 212325 11232316 241616 2311 251926 8262381626 251926 2311 251926 252213262730 302211 201624626189 2220 212325 121823211029 21232519222110 2220 12182321102730 301723 22 212325 1726202518239 139 26212613222620 12192621 22 1324526 25192613 139 111822262117202830 2471824192413 16222115231621 Have Fun!Edited by Coinguy1000 10/15/2012 09:01 am

Does the cipher relate directly to the person making the quotes or more generally to his role.
Hope that makes sense.

Or perhaps easier to answer, does the cipher relate directly to the subject matter of any of the three quotes?

If you are trying to find out if you can crack the code by the quoter, it has nothing to do with the code. I could of left the qouters name out and it wouldn't have made any difference. I hope that answered your question. If not Please describe to me more what you are asking. Thanks

OK, thanks, I think so. I have the three quotes and the quoter but did it 'brute force' and now cant find suitable cipher, which I think is required for an acceptable answer

Cipher works on letter frequency in the English language, the most common letter 'E' being given the value 26 and the least common 'Z' getting the value 1.
Letter relative frequency in the English language
e 12.70% = 26 t 9.056% = 25 a 8.167% = 24 o 7.507% = 23 i 6.966% = 22 n 6.749% = 21 s 6.327% = 20 h 6.094% = 19 r 5.987% = 18 d 4.253% = 17 l 4.025% = 16 c 2.782% = 15 u 2.758% = 14 m 2.406% = 13 w 2.360% = 12 f 2.228% = 11 g 2.015% = 10 y 1.974% = 9 p 1.929% = 8 b 1.492% = 7 v 0.978% = 6 k 0.772% = 5 j 0.153% = 4 x 0.150% = 3 q 0.095% = 2 z 0.074% = 1
Period gets the value 27, Question mark, 28, Comma 29 and quote mark 30.
For instance:
3092314 = 30 9 23 14 = "You
2471824192413 16222115231621 = 24 7 18 24 19 24 13 16 22 21 15 23 16 21 = Abraham Lincoln
I think that there may be a mis-type in the first quote but have translated it as that rather than correcting it.
I think that pretty much covers it, dont think I've missed anything?

I got to admit, I thought I would have people stumped. But You solved it quickly. Since you discovered the error in the first quote I know you got it right!
Solve this: (31 = !)

92314 122321 718241010222110 18221019252031 You won bragging rights! I think it was a decent puzzle Coinguy1000 , feel a bit bad for getting it so quickly, just had a remarkably clear mind this afternoon, and everything fell into place quickly. Brute forced the first quote by spotting the repetitions of '2311', '251926', '242117' and '8262381626'. Most memorable quotes include repetition and a bit of irony and after a bit of trial and error got it. This gave me the quoter and a few letters to substitute for the other quotes, took a little longer but I knew I only had to consider Abes quotes to get the right ones. This is where I started to struggle, despite having the quotes I couldn't find the cipher, tried all sorts but still failed. Reversed my methodology and it gave me the almost complete frequency chart, thats when it clicked. Spent ages going in the wrong direction after reading this Lincoln quote though: "Of course when I came of age I did not know much. Still somehow, I could read, write, and cipher to the Rule of Three." Abraham Lincoln 1859 autobiography. Was sooooo close to cracking #13 so I'm very happy to have got #15 Thanks for posting it, very enjoyable

Was just wondering if the people who take part in these puzzles knew about the Zodiac murders and unsolved ciphers? A gruesome but fascinating story. http://boxofrain.wordpress.com/2007...mbol-cipher/This link mainly covers the ciphers as much of the story is not really suitable for a family forum.

Sometimes the FBI posts codes that they cannot crack, or codes that they made up to see if you can crack them, might be something to look into.
