The Lions Clubs do mostly charitable work. They supply free medical equipment, wheelchairs, walkers, beds, etc. to anyone that needs it free of charge. Any child that needs glasses, hearing aids, special teaching, etc. they supply it. I helped along with 9 others to build 8 wheel chair ramps at private homes for people over the years. In parts of MD we paid for summer school teachers for the kids. Any person requiring it would have transportation supplied for free for Dr. appointments or even shopping. Every child in all the schools has his vision screened (with parental permission) using a camera we bought costing over $5,000. Digital pictures are taken of each eye and the result are sent to a group of volunteer eye doctors to be checked. They do find a lot of problems. Some just in time. The list can go on and on. I have never worked with a group of men and women who have been more caring and giving of themselves. They deserve this honor.
Just my opinion
