Can some explain to me what was the purpose of the $1.00 WWII-NORTH AFRICA / HAWAII SILVER CERTIFICATE. Which one is more rare?

Perhaps they were made so that if either territory fell into enemy hands they could easily invalidate them to prevent them from being used to help the other side?


Please note I know absolutely nothing about these.

The north Africa's are less common - you see Hawaii ones everywhere.

The are still both valuable and sought after collectable notes,,,I agree the north Africa $1 is the harder of the two..........
