I've seen several threads dealing with non-paying bidders, I wouldn't know anything about that since I'm always just buying and I always pay within 12 hours after receiving invoice.

But, now I've encoutered a non-replying seller. The auction ended and the guy sent me an invoice...however, the invoice was in 'wrong' currency. Before bidding I contacted seller and asked if I could pay in euros, instead of USD, he replied that euros are ok too. The first invoice he sent me was in USD and I've been asking, with three emails/messages, that he either send me an invoice in euros or just send the exchange rate he wants to use for currency conversion. But no reply...

How long should I wait for reply, opinions? Also, what the heck should I do if I do not receive any reply at all?

Non-communicating buyers AND sellers are one of my major pet peeves.

First, I'd go to ebay's A-Z Help Index http://pages.ebay.com/help/index/A.html It may be that you can pay in Euros anyway. You did not state if this was a PayPal transaction. If it is, I believe PayPal will convert the Euros to dollars automatically. I occasionally sell to non-US buyers and I don't know any provision to send an invoice in anything except dollars. Still, this is no excuse for a seller's non-communication.

Second, I'd send yet another message through the ebay messaging system. In that manner, you know the message actually got through and have documentation that you attempted to contact the seller in the instance he tries to report you as a non-paying bidder.

Third, if still no answer, I'd go through the process of finding his phone number and call him. This might not be practical and could be expensive if you're separated by an ocean or two.

Last, if you're paying by check or money order and still no word from the seller, I'd then do the conversion myself and send the money to him at whatever the current exchange rate might be.

Hi JJ

I have experience buying on 9 different ebay countries
When I encounter a seller that does not answer it is because he does not want the sale to proceed

You can find the ebay link that gives mutual data
that way he is notified you are asking questions about him and if you are lucky there is a telephone number
I believe phoning may be the only way of getting is attention

Recently several ebays started with a link report a dispute
That would be an attention getter too

Carry out all emails over the link on which you bought the coin ; saves you a lot of time explaining to ebay what is happening

Could it be you got the coin too cheap ? Mostly problems start right there

Oh I forgot
Paypal will take 4-5% cost from the seller on a one currency transaction
If you pay dollars starting from euro paypal will take like 2.5% from him on top of that and like 2.5% from you for converting the money
But do not pay Western Union because if he keeps the money you lost
Pay paypal or Creditcard only
I learned the hard way

Thanks for the replys, guys. As a matter of fact, immediately after starting this thread, I received a reply from the guy. Thus, this problem was solved, fortunately.

BTW, this transaction is inside Europe (in cash) and without PayPal. Sure there is a danger that I lose the money, but this time we're talking about very small sum. Usually I do prefer PayPal, since it's very safe and fast way to pay. Inside Europe, it's not always possibility...if that is the case, I usually transfer money to sellers bank account. If seller wants cash or Western Union transfer, then I'll just don't bid at all, unless the price is very cheap...that way, I'll lose only small change if the seller is dishonest.
