I have been going through some uncirculated rolls of 1964 pennies, and in the most recent 4 rolls I have found 20 pennies with double Elizabeth. Making this 5% of all pennies searched so far as having this variety, and I am only searching the clean ones. So maybe 75 coins total making it actually more like 1 in 4 pennies as having this error. Is this normal for coins from 1953-1964?

I was wondering because its listed as other errors on coins and canada, but not in the major varieties section. Any help appreciated.

I don't understand what you mean by 'double Elizabeth'.

Would you post a picture, please ?

Sorry should have been more clear, there is a die doubling on the word Elizabeth on the coin itself, I am away from my scanner at the moment but it looks exactly like this:

Hi godless. Doubled inscriptions seem to be fairly common throughout the 1960's, but I don't know the percentage of them. 25% seems high, in my experience. Nice find in that grade!

Yea I'm coming up on having almost a whole roll of them now. Went through a roll of 50 and came out with 15, this seems to be pretty consistent.
