As far as I can make it out it is a English coin but have not got the books for this era..... here is a foto of it, it is a copper coin, with a diameter of +/- 30mm

Without a book I'd say the coin is from the German States. I'm sure someone will look it up for you.
Looks like it's 1780.

I can make out the date but nothing else. Can you write down the lettering and also include a picture of the other side of the coin?

The coat of arms is French. Sorry, I can't give more info until I get home from work and look it up.

What's the other side look like?

It's a Sol from Louis XVI.

Btw when he tried to flee the country from the revolution, disguised as a servant he was recognized from his face on the coins.

that's an exceptional coin you found there.
They are generally very worn and hard to find even in small XF

It's hard to be sure, but it looks like yours is mintmark "H" (the city of La Rochelle). The design was actually used on the liard, ½ sol and 1 sol, but at 30 mm it'll be the 1 sol piece. The reference number for a 1 sol 1780H is KM#578.6; CV in the 3rd edition is $2.50 in VG - call it $1 or so in the condition yours is in. In better grades, this one goes: Fine $5, VF $13, EF $60, not given for Unc.
