Anyone else just get this MC e-mail?
Just released with 128888 mintage with only 28k for North America and it's already 78% sold out?
Only 7.96g of Ag for $32? Specimen finish. Looks like a 20 for 20 except it's a 20 for 32.

Ya, I just got this too. I don't remember seeing this until today. Too high of a mintage for me. I have to see it in person to see what this 3 finish is about.

I received the email this morning as well. It was surprising to read a "pre-sale" notification that included an announcement that already 78% of the mintage was sold! I wonder if this refers to the entire mintage of 128,888 or only to the 28,000 available for North America? Dealers in Asia must be stocking up! The RCM does a really nice job with incorporating multiple finishes on a single coin - I was impressed with its work on the Calgary Stampede dollar, for example " I bet the multiple finishes they claim for this highly-detailed Snake coin will be attractive as well. The RCM's efforts with this multi-finish technology proves that painting on color is not the only way to enhance a coin's surfaces and overall eye appeal. I do find it a bit disappointing, however, that the RCM doesn't seem to care about the relationship between a coin's denomination and its size/weight. This new release is the same size and weight as the recent War of 1812 "Heroes" silver coins (Brock and Tecumseh) but it has a denomination of $20.00 while the 1812 coins have a denomination of $4.00. To me, this is just another example of how modern NCLT "coins" are really just medals with symbolic denominations stamped on them to make them more attractive to collectors. EDIT: Just occurred to me to "do the math" re: the 78% sold. The 28,000 coins available in North America represent about 22% of the total mintage. So, the 78% already sold appear to be what has already been spoken for by Asian (and possibly European) dealers â€" essentially all of the coins available for the NA market appear to still be available from the RCM.

I think it has the best design I have seen so far, even better than the lotus shape one. Too bad it is so small, imagine a 5oz or kilo coin of this design.. that would be awesome... btw where will the remaining 100,888 coins be sold?

So where is 78%? Goes to China, Japan, Korea and all the East Asia?
The coin is not ugly IMO. It looks good in details. I ordered one as a gift quickly.

I will pass this one. Actually I don't collect any of Chinese Zodiac coins from the Mint. They just have too high mintage.

I don't understand why it differs from the previous 'dragon' coin. I would have liked an affordable set of 1/2 ounce silver $10 coins
This one is $20, and about 1/4 ounce - why would they not make it similar to the dragons?

^^ True, I'm going to wait until they release a couple new coins. The zodiac coins from the mint have very nice work put into them but for some reason it doesn't do it for me. Iv been trying to unload mine.
