I picked up a BU roll of the 2004-D wisconsin State Quarters
today while out grabbing other rolls for searching at a local bank. Will post my other finds later at the CRH forum :)
Anyway, are these shrink wrapped in clear heavy plastic rolls
an after market thing ? There is also a white label on it
stating: Brilliant Uncirculated Wisconsin D 2004
Then a hand writ-in date of 12-02-04 and a price of $12.80 :)
I realize the label is after market as it is just taped on the roll.
Deciding if I was going to open it up or leave it alone depending on whether the mint did these up like this originally or not. No big deal
only paid face for it. The coins are in a heads to tails config. as far as I can tell. Obv. on one end Rev. on the other. No sign of an X-tra leaf variety on the Rev. end coin.
Thanks.

That is not mint wrapping. That is Brinks. I would open it and check for the extra leaf on the reverse.

O.k. then. Good to know, Thanks.
I did not realize that Brink's or any other service Co. for that matter would even take the time and effort to sort only one date/m.m./grade etc. before wrapping then returning to banks. Label must be a dealers label then.

The mint sends out the coinage in bags to companies that roll them. The mint does not actually roll the circulation rolls. So finding a roll like that is perfectly normal.

Yep thats brinks' wrapping. They purchase in bulk from the US treasury, roll at their facility and deliver to banks as ordered. Its part of a bundled service they sell to banks that supports their armored car delivery service.

Oh, I see. Been a while I guess :) I thought that they still
just bagged in bulk on the business strikes then sent them out. Just got done checking them out. No variety on any of them. Some BU's and maybe a couple of Gem's but no Choice coins in the roll. Nice coins though overall. Put them all in a screw cap clear tube. I'm all done with the State Quarter thing anyway. Cashed in thousands of dollars of them over the years. Even Unc. rolls. Will put them away for the winter and then out on my flea market table in the spring. Maybe someone
will be interested in them for a couple of bucks anyway over face. Thanks again for the help.
