Well, the 1804 eagle without a crosslet on the 4 was the restrike from the presentation sets of 1834-5 (Like the 1804 bust dollar). Was this lady also descended from the King of Siam?

No, you either owe her many millions of dollars, or she owes you an apology. I'm inclined to the latter. Genuine specimens of this coin: four. Reproductions: plenty.

Quote: I just bought this gold coin from a young lady in my town who is a distant relative of Andrew Jackson. This great family heirloom ended up with her and I noticed it at her yard sale. Any time you hear a story like this it makes you think its definitely someone trying to scam you unless they can prove it with paperwork. Anyone with this lineage and a coin like the original one would be would have all types of proof of who they are and where it came from, and wouldn't be having a yard sale and include a coin like an original of this date and type

Beautiful 7070 album, Bryan! How much did you spend on it lol? That has been my project lately. I have about 13 slots to go; just purchased an Oregon Commemorative and Classic Head Cent off of ebay. The Classic Head is not a gem by any means, but I don't have a budget for more than $100-200 a coin for the tough ones (did splurge a little on an EF Seated dollar.)

when I started on it gold was about 600.00 an ounce so I paid somewhere close to that for each $20.00 gold piece, now you can barely get one of the $1.00 gold coins for close to that price. I think I figured it up what I had in it and it came to about $8,000.00 I had spent on the coins

Hope I didn't come off too harsh there. Just don't like to see anybody get taken. No hard feelings?

While I'm not buying this one, I do have to say that just because you have impressive ancestry doesn't mean you can prove it with paper. Ask my cousins they'll all tell you we are related "somehow" to George Washington. I'm the only one that can actually show the paper to prove it ( 1st cousins 9 times removed ...but true!). Also how many times on the Antiques Road show do you see someone come up with a family heirloom they think is worht a bit and find out it's worth hundred of thousands of dollars. The first thought is where can I sell it!! And; well...the number of yard sale finds you read about are almost endless. Just say....in general!

As I've said many times, this is merely an extraordinary claim. But extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

My great grandfather William Woodin was deeply involved with the US Mint during the perilous times of the Great Depression. I recently found an 1849 Double Eagle in his never before seen collection and thought this might be the place to share the discovery.
