Yes very beautiful, very neat coin and the charcter showing in the "old" portrait of King George II.
I have the opportunity to buy a 1731 Halfcrown for $1000 (In VF) and a Queen Anne Vigo Halfcrown from 1703 also in VF for $550, Should I?

Coin Year Book 2021 lists a 1731 halfcrown in VF at £400 and a 1703 VIGO for £450 (the plain version is catalogued at £2300!) My latest UK additions are all in the annual Royal Mint BU set, which arrived in the post yesterday. The packaging is informative but unnecessarily bulky.   My favorite of the new coins is the 50p struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Decimal Currency:   Reverting to the Machin portrait for this issue is a nice touch. I hope they are issued for circulation, although that seems a forlorn hope with the huge decline in cash payments at the moment - a TV documentary last night stated that use of cash has fallen from 60% of all payments ten years ago to just 20% in 2020... Lovely coins, I got my figures wrong, the Half Crown will only cost $500, so I am buying it!
Love those coins NumisRob, they don't muck around over there do they, the year is 8 days old and we have the mint sets already!

Here it is, the 1731 Halfcrown with Roses and Plumes and the year Quinto (5)   Looks a bit cleaned and more aVF than VF, but this is nice and clean and I have never seen any George II other than 1750s, copper and Lima coins. Love that young portrait too (Even though he was my age - mid 40s) Also bought was a stunning 1912 in my new favourite condition for later halfcrowns - AU, although this one is slider UNC to me as well.  The lustre is a knockout and very fresh  I really fell for this, as the coin its upgrading is already a nice near VF piece! Normally that coin would be subjected to panegyrics  from me by itself, but next to the one above it - its definitely a garnish and a travelling companion to it!  Edited by Princetane

This 1901 Victoria Six Pence came in today's mail. This is my favorite British coin design. The reverse is exceptionally nice, I think.   Paul Bulgerin

You are about 100 years too late sorry, he died around 1727 4 years before my beautiful halfcrown was made.
Paul and Jason - Love those beautiful coins, that sixpence is stunning and looks very fresh.
