Recently inherited a pretty large coin collection of pre-47 florins and threepence and this one grabbed my attention. It's not mint but it's the nicest of the pre-20 ones in the collection.   |

Elizabeth I shilling with unabbreviated name. I assume this is an earlier date for that reason.   |

Yes - mintmark is Lis, which dates the coin to 1558-1560, 1st issue coinage.
Although the name is unabbreviated, it is missing the middle A. This is not a variation listed in Spink, but it may still be common. You need one of the hammered experts to chip in.

I think that coin may have been "chipped" enough  Cool to see such an early one though. Love the trench art bronze coin, looks like Sherlock Holmes, the coin itself is in great condition. And nice 1907 florin - about the same as my 1907 florin! |

Thanks for the welcomes. :) While trying to get good shots of some of the others I've realised that taking good shots of coins is actually something of a skill. What my eyes are seeing my camera is just going  to. |

Waiting on a few bits and bobs from the EU who incidently don't charge VAT. nobody does except ebay. I doubt it's even lawful being that they herald from a tax enclave in Luxembourg. I mean who are they? they have no official capacity as a VAT collector for the UK. Moving on  Nice honest 1861 Penny F29 R6 approaching EF   |

From that beautiful one to this.. Slightly tired one.. I found this when I was about 7 while beachcombing with my grandparents so its special (to me) because its what got me interested in coins. 1806 penny.   I thought it was lost and just found it in some old stuff - so it's a rediscovery rather than an actual new one.. Edited by Gainn
