Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 12/24/2021 04:01 am 3 more coins to add to the emerging collection, the last being the self Christmas present. 1927 - average, however interesting as this was the only Kruger Grey design issued for general circulation in 1927, all the others from 3d to the Crown were proofs only (Although as NumisRob and a few others have shown us) some escaped into circulation. The 1927 shilling was also issued in the old design as well (De Saulles Lion rampant on Crown) 1922 Half crown "no gap" variety - the earlier and scarcer version of the 1922 coin. They made a gap between the shield lip and crown band early in 1922. Despite being VF, this coin has a lot of copper leaching through - possibly one of the reasons why in 1922 they switched to the Binary alloy (50/50 silver/copper) from the tertiary (Copper core with silver plate and nickel whitener 40 Cu, 50 Ag, 10 Ni). I previously showed an example of this coin, much more worn. And now the new star of my Florin universe An 1849 "Godless" Florin in stunning (Highest VF, almost EF condition) and this coin is creamy. Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 01/02/2022 12:24 pm Understatement of the century PaddyB - that thing is a stunner. Otto I would say yours is EF rather than good EF. Notice the thistle on the obverse is quite flat and George has general light wear on hair and face, although I agree the strike is apalling. Just for me to eat humble pie, here is a much more worn example of that coin! Paddy's is basically UNC, Ottos is EF - here is a good Fine example that I paid around $12 (£6) for. zookeeperz Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 698 Posts	Posted 01/09/2022 7:11 pm Couple of new additions 1 I didn't have and didn't think I would ever find one. 1 is an upgrade. 1 is well it was there so I bought it . And the later is an update picture of the 1928 Halfcrown which was the sellers picture which did it no justice at all. Even my sketchy photographic skills haven't captured what I see in the hand but its a better representation of the grade I am defending of GEF/AUNC full mint bloom . The coin I didn't have is the 1874H Obverse 7 Reverse I R17 on the rarity scale 20-30 known to exist across all grades. It's a date visible type but even in its low grade condition still extremely sort after. The upgrade is to another scarce penny the 1879 narrow date . Has had a very light wipe sometime in its past but re-toning now and is an upgrade to the washer I had for this example. lastly an 1861 Penny obverse 6 reverse G the standard for this issue VF and happy to have another piece of history Report this Post to the Staff

My really worn one was one of the first coins I brought after getting back into coins in 2019 and its taken that long to get a worthwhile and affordable upgrade.
