NumisED well somebody outbid me on the Handel halfpenny this past weekend, I was accidentally running my VPN during the auction and didn't realize it was slowing down my bids going into ebay, and my last bid which probably would've have won the Handel I was after never got through, but who's to say I may not have bid enough either. DOH! It was way nicer than the one in tomorrow morning's Deane III auction. I can't justify the huge scratch in the fields on it but if it's cheap enough I might break down and throw out a bid.

Quote: westcoin, sorry to learn the vandals took the Handel! It's all good, I ended up spending money I probably shouldn't have at the Deane III sale this morning. Doh! Got another cool error Conder I'll post after it arrives. Quote: Which halfpenny would that be? This was the Middlesex DH-1023 on ebay in way better shape: DH-1023, my friend Jerry attended and said it wasn't a good buy too wiped and scuffy, as well as having an old number scratched into the obverse, so I passed on it as well. Deane also had a Middlesex DH-300 I decided not to chase the Deane coin as it had a big scratch on the obverse behind Handle's portrait:

I had noticed that Strand also had a DH-300 on auction. I did buy a DH-1021 from Allens, when I was randomly browsing their website a couple of days ago.

I also was able to locate a pdf copy of "Tradesmen's Tokens of the Eighteenth Century" by James Atkins. Quite handy as you can simply search by keyword and the token description then pops up.

This may sound strange, but after thinking it over I decided to no longer pursue Conder Tokens related to music. Although many of them are lovely, the price-quality ratio seems to disfavor collecting. In other words, the amount of money I need to spend to obtain tokens that have very good eye appeal (to me) are outside my financial comfort zone.
