Lovely copper.
It's interesting to me that so many of the cartwheels and the 1806-1807 issues from Soho survived in high grades, whereas the regal issues for halfpennies and farthings from 1774 and earlier are much more difficult to find without heavy circulation.

Another probably-non-regal 1782 halfpenny arrived to join its many English mates in the collection. Quite underweight but not the worst I've seen (I've got some GIII English counterfeits at < 90 gns.) Several punch marks for no apparent reason. Just a pretty silver shilling from Devon I managed to find tucked away in a US dealer's auction a few years ago. (Most of the good stuff comes from the UK, of course.) This one was issued by the County in 1811-12 and is now known as Dalton 7. While you're here, please check out my news in the revised signature, below. Thanks!

I dread to sell a single coin; the thought of parting with 700 is terrifying!
You have some beautiful and amazing tokens. If I were in the UK and had a few extra pounds to spend on new tokens I'd be in trouble...

Thank you, paralyse! Those 700+ tokens are all the duplicates and triplicates I've accumulated in over 35 years of upgrading and buying group lots myself. Along the way, every one of them has been replaced in my collection at a significantly higher grade. I try to approach this the way a museum does: the term they use is "deaccessioning."
Here's a great motivating factor toward overcoming your dread of selling: I've already identified about 15 tokens among the other people's consignments in that sale that will easily (if I'm lucky) wipe out my proceeds from the 700 and then some...great fun ahead!

PaddyB, I've never really studied England's hammered coinage, so I could easily be mistaken, but am I seeing the Latin word "Pax" emblazoned across the Reverse of this penny?
