The two pence you have posted @ErrorsRcool - is there something special about this coin? An error or variety of some sort? It is in very nice condition, but I am struggling to see anything special about it otherwise...

Thanks Dearborn. Hi PaddyB. To answer your question about my coin, no errors or anything special other than nice condition. I saw there's only one or two nicer ones on PCGS population last year and someone told me it had some value, which I later found out was not the best information. Anyway, we'll see what happens if buy some chance it does become more valuable. Thanks for asking though.

All these nice Jersey pennies showing up here lately have inspired me to post an earlier example, one that was struck in 1813 for Jersey, Guernsey and Alderney. This photo comprises two varieties posed side-by-side, one with medal rotation and one with coin. Add a couple of different reverse images and edge variants to that and we have four or five different tokens available, all of which appear so infrequently that the Galata Token Book doesn't even provide values for specimens graded above F. Withers 2044a (RR) and 2044b (RRR); Davis 10; KM-Tn4; 17.3g, 34mm.

Daltonista - always nice to see varieties, and anything with an RR or RRR rating is super tough!
Super neat looking Pegusus GLB49
and amazing amount of luster it looks like on your new pence ErrorsRcool.

Thanks for the clarification @ErrorsRcool - I am relieved! I feared someone had persuaded you it was some mega-rare date and you had paid a fortune for it.
There is a rare combination near that date - the 1983 2p with the "New Pence" reverse instead of "Two pence" is a very rare mule and occurs only in some of the BU sets of 1983. A set with that rarity in it will sell for over £800, so well worth watching out for.
There are two reasons that PCGS will have so few graded examples of the 1981 2p: firstly very few GB collectors are into the grading/slabbing of their coins; and secondly the coin is still very common, and so the cost of grading far outweighs the value of the coin.
