In the past week I have bought 26 Halfcrowns These KGVI's are all possibly cleaned but basically AU coins. They are not UNC like Otto's coin - but I would say AU with the 1946 maybe just scraping down into the high EFs with that clear neck wear on KGVI. Still they are better than the usual cloudy Fine stuff I end up with. I have a 1939, 40, 41, 42 and 46 all looking like these, a good price too - $20NZD each. Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 04/27/2020 06:24 am Most of my KGV's are being showed on the how far back can we go thread, but here are the 2 Eddies I bought. 1909 Fine condition - the reverse is the same as 1911 - 1927 KGV's but the rim is much smaller and thinner and detail is raised on the coin face, whereas the Georges have a decent rim Compare the difference in rim quality between 1910 Edward VII coin and the 1911 coin, the first KGV coin - there was some redesigning going on at the mint. Conditions - 1910 I would say gVG/aFine and 1911 gFine - so a bit of difference there. I also bought these dates, 1914, 18, 20, 23, 33, 34, 35, 36, 47, 49 and 53 - so now I have each date between 1909 and 1951 except 1922 which is weird given its a common year (I want to buy an UNC KGV coin and 1922 is the most doable). I may win an 1826 gVG tomorrow and will show it of I do win. Report this Post to the Staff

It would EF at the very least. Bet you it cost a bit and you should be very proud of it, because my WIVs are all nasty and I seldom see any of his coins except copper above Fine. After years of acquiring I have all the post 1816 Halfcrowns bar 2 Victorian scarcities, but few as good as that one. It actually came to me as part of a collection bought off a kindly gentleman who gave a remarkably good deal as I was keeping them all for myself. Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 04/28/2020 12:07 am Every halfcrown since 1816 (darn!!) and here I am thinking I am cock of the hoop as I now have 57 different including every coin from 1909 to 1955 except 1922 for some bizarre reason. Let me guess the 2 Victorian scarcities are 1839 and 1841? or a proof 1851 or 1864? The George III crown - words lose me - I need some gentleman sellers like yours! PaddyB Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 945 Posts	Posted 04/28/2020 04:45 am Yes you are right - 1839 and 1841 are the two Victoria Halfcrowns that I don't have. Prices for those are crazy! Although I have all the others, not all by any measure are as good as the 1834. Weakest ones are 1842 and 1848, which are well below Fine, but the rest make about Fine or better. My aim was to get examples of all British coins (all denominations, all dates, not gold) back to the start of regular milled coinage in the mid 17th century. Very few gaps back to 1816, a few more (mostly large denominations) back to 1695, and maybe 50% back to 1662. (No Cromwell sadly!)
